On November 25th , H.E. Xi Jinping, President of the People's Republic of China sent message of congratulations to H.E. Desiré Delano Bouterse, President of the Republic of Suriname on the occasion of Suriname's Independence Day.

The text of the message is as follows:

"Dear Mr. President,

On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the independence of Suriname, on behalf of the Chinese Government and the Chinese people and in my personal capacity, I would like to extend my sincerest congratulations and best wishes to you, and through you, to your Government and the people of Suriname.

In recent years, with the common efforts of two sides, China-Suriname relations have made substantial progress. We have maintained close high-level exchanges, achieved fruitful results in pragmatic cooperation in various fields and kept sound communication and coordination on international issues. I place high importance on the development of bilateral relations, and would like to make joint efforts with you, taking the 40th anniversary of the establishment of our diplomatic ties next year as the opportunity, to further deepen our mutual political trust and strengthen the mutually beneficial and friendly cooperation, to bring more benefits to our two countries and two peoples.
