Notice on Updated Requirements for Chinese Visa Application during the Pandemic

The Chinese Embassy in Suriname has adjusted visa requirements. The new requirements as follows take effect immediately:

1. Foreign citizens undertaking diplomatic, official, and crew activities may apply for diplomatic, official and C-visas. Those who are eligible for courtesy visas are also allowed to apply.

2. Invitation Letters issued by competent authorities and other required documents are necessary for M-visas and F-visas, and original  Notification of Foreigners’ Work Permits or Foreigners’ Work Permits, along with other necessary documents, are required for Z-visas.

3. Invitation Letters are waived for the relatives of the foreigners who are resuming production and operation or currently working in China. The eligible relatives include their spouses, parents, children under 18, the parents of their spouses, and adult children and their spouses with special needs. The relatives may apply for proper visas with kinship proofs and other necessary documents.

4. The foreign family members of Chinese citizens and foreigners with permanent residence permits, including the spouses, parents, the parents of the spouses, children, children’s spouses, siblings, grandparents, grandchildren, may apply for proper visas to visit or reunite with their relatives.

5. Visa applications for humanitarian reasons, such as condolences or care for critically ill patients, should be submitted with identity documents of the deceased or the patients, death certificates or hospital diagnoses, notices of critical illness, and kinship proofs.

6. In principle, all visa applicants must have been fully vaccinated with Chinese vaccines, or with those approved or authorized for emergency use by the WHO.

7. Visa applications for tourism or medical services are not accepted at this moment.

All visa applicants must fill in the visa application form and make an appointment online. The process goes as follows:

1. Applicants, including those with diplomatic or service passports, must fill in the electronic visa form in theChina Visa Online Application System (https://cova.mfa.gov.cn). After filling-in, please print out and sign on the visa form and the confirmation page.

2. Then make an appointment in the China Visa Online Appointment System (https://avas.mfa.gov.cn), and print out the confirmation form for the appointment. Applicants with diplomatic and service passports may submit documents in person to the embassy during working hours without an online appointment.

3. All applicants must come to the embassy in person to submit the documents on time. When you come to the embassy, you need to submit:

● The printed-out application form and the confirmation page

● Passport with at least one empty page and valid for more than 6 months from the time the visa is applied for, and one copy of the first page of the passport

● One photo with a light-colored background

● Valid Surinamese residence permit or proof of residence is required for non-Surinamese passport holders

● All Chinese passports or visas the applicant got, if the applicant was a Chinese citizen and later obtained a foreign citizenship

● Vaccination certificate

● The particular documents required for the visa types, shown as follows:

   proof, such as marriage certificate, birth certificate, if they 

   intend to apply for an S-2 visa.

C-visa

Crew members

A letter of guarantee issued by a foreign transportation company, or 

an Invitation Letter issued by an authorized Chinese institution

Please note:

1. According to The Agreement between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of Suriname on Mutual Visa Exemption for Holders of Diplomatic, Service Passport, Passports for Public Affairs and Ordinary passports, travelers with Surinamese passports won’t need to apply for visas, if they intend to stay in China for no more than 30 days from the arrival time in China.

2. All travelers going to China must apply for health codes issued by the Chinese Embassy in Suriname before they set off. Please pay close attention to the policy details and updates on our website regarding health code application.
