August 28, 2025 – Ambassador Lin Ji of the People’s Republic of China to Suriname paid a courtesy call on H.E. Harish Monorath, Suriname’s New Minister of Justice and Police.

Ambassador Lin spoke positively of the bilateral relations and the cooperation in the field of judiciary and law enforcement between China and Suriname. He commended Suriname’s Ministry of Justice and Police for adhering to the one-China principle and actively safeguarding the lives, property and legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens and enterprises in Suriname. It is hoped that the Surinamese government will increase investment in social security and provide a better social security environment for Chinese citizens and descendants and Chinese enterprises in Suriname.

Minister Monorath stated that the friendship between Suriname and China has a long history, and the relations between the two countries are close and friendly. He looks forward to continuously strengthening exchanges and cooperation of judiciary and law enforcement between the two countries. Chinese citizens and descendants are an important part of the multicultural society of Suriname. The Surinamese government attaches great importance to maintaining domestic public security and cracking down on criminal activities, and will create a good public security environment for all sectors of society, including Chinese citizens and enterprises.
