On September 23, the Embassy of China in Suriname hosted a reception in celebration of the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, at which Chargé d'Affaires ad interim Liu Zhenhua delivered remarks. More than 300 guests were present, including Acting President of Suriname H.E. Rusland, several ministers, members of the National Assembly, political party leaders and other friendly personages from various sectors, diplomatic envoys of various countries accredited to Suriname, and representatives of the Chinese community and Chinese interprices.

Chargé d'Affaires Liu reviewed the remarkable achievements scored since the founding of the People's Republic of China 77 years ago, presented China's 15th Five-Year Plan, the vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind and the four global initiatives, and stated that China stands ready to work with Suriname to continuously elevate the China-Suriname strategic cooperative partnership to new levels.

Acting President Rusland extended congratulations on China's National Day, spoke highly of China's development achievements and Suriname-China relations, and expressed the expectation that bilateral friendly cooperation will yield new outcomes.

The guests watched excerpts from a documentary on the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Suriname and enjoyed cultural performances. The event was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
